The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) appointed the artist Lady Marsella to be the Ambassador of the Indonesian Toilet Task Force (Satgas) to fix toilets in Indonesia’s tourism destination areas.
There is also the formation of the Indonesian Toilet Task Force (STI) in various parts of Indonesia, which is continuously campaigned by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno.
Lady Marsella said that her party would invite the disabled community to participate in the cleanliness and feasibility and comfort campaign for people with disabilities.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Indonesian Toilet Task Force Anthoney Lau revealed that Lady Marsella was named the Ambassador of the Indonesian Toilet Task Force because of her high commitment and enthusiasm to fix toilets in tourist areas.
According to him, toilets can be a source of disease if they are not properly managed, especially now that the COVID-19 pandemic.
Therefore, the cleanliness of toilets in tourist areas is very necessary so that tourists can be free from infectious diseases such as diarrhea or COVID-19. The hope is that economic activities in tourism areas can grow again.
“We invite the public to participate in campaigning on the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the toilets to be free from disease,” said Anthoney, Thursday (25/2), as quoted by ANTARA.
As is well known, the Indonesian Toilet Task Force was officially formed in early February by Minister of Parekraf Sandiaga Uno.
This task force will work in all tourism objects in Indonesia. This step was taken to maintain the cleanliness of the toilets and indirectly maintain the reputation of Indonesian tourism.
“The Indonesian Toilet Task Force that we initiated is a concept of preparing tourist destinations not only in terms of visible infrastructure but also from supporting facilities in the form of toilets,” Sandiaga said in his official statement.
Sandi admits that he has seen several tourism destinations and has formed his own toilet task force. Kemenparekraf will leave it to their respective communities to run the toilet task force.
