Drinking coconut water can increase the energy the body needs. The reason is that both coconut water and flesh contain carbohydrates.
In addition, the carbohydrate content in coconuts is also high in fruit sugar (fructose) and low in sugar (glucose). Fructose does not need insulin to enter the body’s cells, so it does not increase blood sugar levels.
“The sugar content in coconut is higher in fructose, it is a natural sugar that does not require insulin to enter the cells,” said Samuel.
Clinical nutrition specialist Luciana B Sutanto said coconut water is high in minerals such as potassium, magnesium and iron.
This mineral content helps form enzymes, build bone and tooth density, and helps work every organ in the body including nerve cells.
Because it is included in the fruit category, coconut is also rich in fiber. Although it does not produce energy, fiber itself is important for the body because it maintains a healthy digestive system.
Luciana said, the fiber content in old coconut is much higher than young coconut. If you want to get the benefits of coconut fiber, then you need to choose an old coconut that is just the right level of maturity.
“As for fiber, each coconut has a high fiber content. However, old coconuts have more fiber than young coconuts,” said Luciana.
