Jakarta, TOPNews Indonesia –
Entering the night lailatul qadar, Muslims are encouraged to increase their worship, including doing Sunnah prayers.
However, no one knows for sure when the night of lailatul qadar will come. Therefore, Muslims can carry out the sunah lailatul qadar prayer from the beginning of Ramadan to the last 10 nights of Ramadan.
The sunnah lailatul qadar prayer itself is carried out two rak’ahs, four rakats to 12 cycles. This prayer can be performed after the Isha prayer or tarawih prayer.

The procedure for praying lailatul qadar is generally the same as the obligatory prayers and other sunna prayers, but there is a slight difference, namely the reading of the intention and the prayer. Here’s the explanation.
1. Reading Intent
The intention to pray two cycles of lailatul qadar:
Ushalli sunnata lailatil qadri rak’ataini lillahi ta’aalaa
Meaning: “I intend to pray two rak’ahs of sunnah lailatul qadar because of Allah Ta’ala.”
The intention to pray lailatul qadar four rakats:
Ushalli sunnata lailatil qadri arba’arakaatin lillahi ta’aalaa.
Meaning: “I intend to pray the sunah lailatul qadar four rakats because of Allah Ta’ala.”
2. Takbiratul Ihram
Just like the start of other prayers, the lailatul qadar prayer also begins with performing the takbiratul ihram movement by reciting the takbir sentence of Allahu Akbar.
3. Read Surah Al-Fatihah and Short Surahs
Continue reading the Al-Fatihah for each cycles. After that, continue reading the letter Al-Ikhlas 7 times or At-Takatsur 1 time, then Al-Ikhlas 3 times or Al-Qadr 3 times. Or you can also read other short letters as best you can.
4. There is no Early Tahiyat
The lailatul qadar prayer is slightly different from the compulsory prayer of four rakats. At lailatul qadar prayer, if you have reached the second rak’ah, you don’t need to sit tahiyat. But immediately got up and continued the third rak’ah.
5. Final Tahiyat
When it comes to the fourth rak’ah, perform the final tahiyat and recite the same tahiyat prayer as the other prayers.
After finishing reading the final tahiyat prayer, the next step is to do the greeting.
The prayers recommended by Rasulullah SAW to read during lailatul qadar are:
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul’ afwa fa’fu ‘anni’
Meaning: “O my Lord, verily You are the Most Forgiving Essence and love to give forgiveness to His servants, so forgive my mistakes.”
That is the reading of intentions, prayers, and procedures for praying lailatul qadar. To get the glory of the night of lailatul qadar, let’s fill and live this special night with a lot of worship to Allah SWT.
