Data from the task force for handling COVID-19 on July 16, 2021 recorded that 12.8 percent or 351,336 positive cases of COVID-19 occurred in children aged 0-18 years, 777 of whom had died.
The highest percentage of mortality was in the 0-2 year age group, followed by the 16-18 year age group and the 3-6 year age group. The 5 provinces with the highest number of cases are DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Central Java and DI Yogyakarta.

A study conducted by the Jakarta RSCM team revealed that pediatric patients infected with COVID-19 had a high risk of death compared to patients with comorbidities.
The Principal Researcher of RSCM Rismala Dewi said that most of the pediatric patients who died had comorbidities. Generally, have more than one comorbid.

The research was conducted in the period March-October 2020 with the number of pediatric patients studied as many as 490 children in the treatment of COVID-19.
